LexOrbis have successfully facilitated the Second Edition of “Women in IP” networking event initiated by AIPLA (American IntellectualProperty Law Association) on June 5th, 2017 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The event was organized to bring together womenfrom all over the country, working in IP laws, and/or who regularly face IP issues in the ordinary course of business, to address women’s issues in IP and to facilitate the participants’ professional development. Most prominently, it strived to proffer propitious and efficient means to women for building camaraderie with other women practicing IP at local and global levels, whether in-house or otherwise.
AIPLA organizes ‘Women in IP’ networking event around the globe and this was the second edition in India. Building on AIPLA’s mission of “creating a community of empowered, connected members that support and celebrate one another”, we tried to reach out to women community of IP in India. The response was more than overwhelming with around100 women joining us. We had varied representation from the IP arena, sharing their experiences and paving the way for young aspirers. The event was connected with AIPLA through a video and the President of AIPLA welcomed all attendees.
The event was graced, among others, by Dr. Kavita Taunk – Assistant Controller, E&G-Group-1 (IPO), who enlightened the participants with her motivational speech on Inspiring and empowering women in IP to reach their potential. Various other key speakers addressed the gathering on different issues faced by women, and shared their learned opinions on the ways to mitigate the same. The agenda further included a round table discussion among the attendees for sharing their opinions and an Indian art exhibition, followed by high tea.
We discussed issues, but more importantly we discussed solutions. When solutions and ideas are exposed to thoughtful people, they morph and adapt into their most potent form. We women must now take these intriguing solutions and allow them to develop in reality through implementation.
