In the recent weeks, the Covid-19 situation has brought about great uncertainty for the world. Employers have not been spared. It can be challenging to wade through the everchanging myriad of notices, advisories and guidelines issued by the different governments.
To assist our clients, the Employment Law Alliance's APAC member firms have put together a set of FAQs to deal with some of the more common questions we have been asked relating to the new policies/advisories which have been issued in our respective jurisdictions as well as cost cutting measures which can be implemented to manage the cost of doing business.
As the situation is constantly evolving, readers should take note that this FAQ generally covers the latest updates. However, we wish to inform that in Malaysia, the following are some of the more recent changes:-
- Businesses with headcount of 75 or below employees — RM1,200 for every employee
- Businesses with headcount of 76 to 200 employees — RM800 for every employee
- Businesses with headcount of 201 or more employees — RM600 for every employee
2. Employment Retention Programme – Subject to the qualifying conditions, employees who are placed on unpaid leave for a minimum period of 30 days, would be entitled to financial assistance amounting to RM600.
