Recently, the biggest Fund Finance Association Asia-Pacific Symposium yet concluded. Appleby were gold sponsors of the Singapore conference, with banking and finance Partners Lily Miao and Fiona Chan and fund formation Partner Eason Huang attending the various events.
Lily spoke on the panel ‘Legal Insights in APAC Fund Finance’ on, amongst others, the importance of proper (and often tricky) due diligence and the changing fund finance landscape with increasing interest in NAV financing, securitisation of subscription lines and the role played by ratings agencies. Whilst the Asian market is still developing compared with Europe and the US, this presents a wealth of opportunities for traditional lenders and alternative credit alike. Appleby is a global founding member of the Fund Finance Association (FFA), and Lily is the only multilingual fund finance expert in the region, meaning that Appleby is well placed to advise clients on all manner of liquidity strategies.
As a founding member of the FFA diversity committee, Lily also co-moderated a fireside chat with Kavita Chandrahas of Undivided Consulting on the highly topical theme of neurodiversity in the workplace. The lively discussion sparked many positive conversations after the event.
