Baker & McKenzie's Asia Pacific Tax Practice was recognized for their first rate tax advice, winning six awards at the recent International Tax Review's (ITR) Asia Tax Awards held in Singapore.
The Firm took home both the regional award, 'Asia Tax Litigation and Disputes Firm of the Year,' as well as the national award, 'Tax Disputes & Litigation Firm of the Year' for Hong Kong and Vietnam. Indonesian member firm, Hadiputranto Hadinoto & Partners was named 'Tax Disputes & Litigation Firm of the Year' in Indonesia. Affirming the strength of its all-round tax practice, the Singapore member firm, Baker & McKenzie.Wong & Leow, was awarded 'Singapore Tax Firm of the Year' – an award category which also saw the Big Four accountancy firms and a number of other law firms in contention for the accolade.
In addition, Shanwu Yuan, an International Tax Director based in New York, was named 'Asia Transfer Pricing Practice Leader of the Year'. Mr. Yuan was a former China State Administration of Taxation senior official, and has extensive experience in advising on a variety of Chinese tax issues, in particular transfer pricing, advance pricing arrangements (APAs) and mutual agreement procedures (MAPs).
Baker & McKenzie also received nominations in 27 other categories, including 'Asia Tax Policy Firm of the Year', 'Asia Indirect Tax Firm of the Year', 'Asia Tax Firm of the Year', 'Asia Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year' and 'Asia Tax Transactions Firm of the Year'.
