Global strategic advisory and expert consulting firm Berkeley Research Group has opened an office in Mumbai, India, to enhance its presence within the Asia–Pacific region. The office will further augment BRG’s services for its clientele in one of the region’s influential financial centers and will cover neighboring countries including Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Mumbai is the latest addition to a rapidly growing list of established BRG office locations across Asia–Pacific that includes Hong Kong, Tokyo, Beijing and Singapore.
“The opening of our Mumbai office reflects our deep commitment to serve clients in the region and our determination to expand in this vibrant South Asian economic powerhouse,” said BRG Chairman and Principal Executive Officer David J. Teece.
Abhijit Yadav, a Principal with the firm’s Global Investigations + Strategic Intelligence practice and head of operations in India, is an industry veteran with close to two decades of experience in conducting sensitive investigations in the region. Abhijit will be responsible for growing the practice in India and leading multidisciplinary teams in conducting business intelligence assignments; due diligence engagements; corporate, fraud and conflict of interest investigations; anti-corruption (including US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations) and compliance reviews; and other forensic and investigative engagements.
Before joining BRG, Abhijit was head of the forensics practice in India for a global risk mitigation firm, with a remit to lead and grow the compliance, forensics, business intelligence and investigations practice in the South Asian region. He previously worked at another leading global consulting firm, where he played a crucial role in setting up its India operations as well as leading its business intelligence and investigative efforts in the South Asian region. Prior to that, he led business intelligence, due diligence and corporate investigation engagements across the Indian subcontinent for another corporate risk management firm.
Abhijit began his career as an officer in the Indian Navy, most recently as the deputy director of signals intelligence. In that role he headed classified intelligence operations and covert deployments in a tri-service organization.
Stuart Witchell, the Asia–Pacific leader of BRG’s Global Investigations + Strategic Intelligence practice, said, “We are very excited to have Abhijit on board and to be working with him again. With his unrivalled track record and experience in managing sensitive investigations, he will play a pivotal role in growing our India practice as well as serving our local and regional clients’ requirements throughout the Indian subcontinent and beyond.”
Abhijit is an alumnus of India’s National Defense Academy and has a master’s degree in telecommunications and an MBA in international business.
