Dual senior hires a direct response to consistent client demand for specialist industry and technical expertise beyond the general disputes area.
BRG has appointed Crosby MacDonald and Chris Rudland as directors in its Asia-Pacific (APAC) Disputes and International Arbitration and Global Construction practices, respectively, as the firm continues to augment its market-leading economic and financial consulting offering in the region.
Crosby MacDonald is a longstanding independent consultant and trusted advisor to the firm and joins the APAC Disputes and International Arbitration practice. MacDonald specialises in the provision of expert evidence on valuation, economic and regulatory issues in international commercial disputes across a broad range of industries, with particular expertise in the energy and resources sector. He has been the engagement manager on several disputes involving multibillion-dollar damages claims.
Joining Mr. MacDonald will be Chris Rudland in Singapore, a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) with over 10 years of experience working on a broad range of construction projects across the globe, as well as on quantum expert witness engagements for large scale disputes. Rudland’s experience includes working on projects in the power, pharmaceutical, logistics, real estate and government defence industries. He has worked alongside quantum experts on domestic and international disputes valued in the billions of dollars and has testified before an arbitral tribunal in Singapore.
Commenting on the appointments, Mustafa Hadi, head of BRG’s Disputes and International Arbitration practice in APAC and co-leader of BRG’s APAC region, said: “Crosby brings increased depth to valuation and damages capability, as well as our energy and resources industry expertise. From his base in Vancouver, Crosby will work closely with the firm’s APAC offices and form an important nexus between our APAC practice and British Columbia’s global mining companies who are active in the region”.
“With Chris joining, our Construction practice now has boots on the ground in APAC, where our practice has been actively engaged for many years, and we see considerable scope for growth in this practice area”, added Hadi. “These appointments also reflect BRG’s dedication to developing the next generation of testifying experts”.
MacDonald commented, “I am delighted to join BRG at a time of continued growth in Asia–Pacific and look forward to working closely with Mustafa to help drive the continued growth of our market-leading disputes offering”.
Commenting on his appointment, Rudland said: “I am thrilled to join BRG’s Global Construction practice and contribute to the firm’s overall growth strategy in Asia–Pacific. I look forward to working closely with BRG’s construction experts in the US and EMEA and our existing practices in APAC”.
The hires come as part of the firm’s continued expansion in APAC and its strategic focus on growth in Singapore. The office, which is already a key hub for the firm’s disputes business, offers on-the-ground expertise in valuation and damages, forensic accounting, strategic investigations, forensic technology and analytics, and energy industry advisory, with further expansion planned in other areas.
