Morrison & Foerster partner and global chair of the firm's private-equity group Marcia Ellis was quoted in the article "From Hong Kong tycoon Richard Li to Softbank, SPACs are gaining traction in Asia" by the South China Morning Post that discusses the surging popularity of the SPAC capital raising trend across Asia.
“Increased competition for assets and returns in Asia has resulted in private-equity houses looking for value beyond the typical structures they have used in the past,” said Marcia. “SPACs are just one of the ways sponsors are diversifying the types of opportunities and investments through which they seek to deploy capital.”
