As you will see, the second half of 2018 was a busy time for legislators and regulators around the world. In terms of hot topics, we saw data privacy legislation introduced in India and New Zealand and companies continuing to deal with the challenges of the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation that went effective May 25, 2018.
In 2019, we expect all eyes to be on the United Kingdom ("UK") as the terms of its pending exit from the European Union are still unclear. Please stay in touch with your Global Equity Services attorney and watch for our publications as we approach the scheduled departure date of March 29, 2019, as there may be implications for (among others) the data privacy regime and securities law requirements for companies offering employee share plans in the UK.
