The long journey to introduce competition law into Hong Kong SAR was a challenging one. After fifteen years of debate, competition enforcement began in December 2015 when the Competition Ordinance finally came into full force.
While Hong Kong was a latecomer to the international competition scene, the Hong Kong Competition Commission has quickly proven itself to be an ambitious enforcer through a robust prosecutorial regime.
In this review, we will reflect on the key milestones over the last five years and crystal-ball gaze to future features of the antitrust landscape in Hong Kong.
