AZB & Partners is delighted to announce that Deepak Chopra would be shortly joining the firm as a Partner from PDS Legal where he was a Partner. Prior to joining PDS Legal, he was a Senior Standing Counsel for the Income-tax Department in the High Court of Delhi. Deepak would be heading the firm’s Tax Litigation Practice and would be based out of the Delhi office.
His addition will provide our Tax Team the ability to provide full pro-active support for tax litigation in tax fora all over the country and add additional depth, experience and expertise to our existing advisory, transactional and litigation support practice. Additionally, consistent with how our practice groups operate, Deepak will also be working closely with our litigation and competition teams across all the offices.
Deepak is a qualified lawyer has an experience of around 26 years in the field of tax litigation, where he has represented several marquee clients, domestic as well as international, before the Supreme Court of India, High Courts and benches of the Income-tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) pan India as well as the Authority for Advance Rulings (Income-tax) (AAR). Deepak has also been associated with tax advisory firms like KPMG, Ernst & Young and Pricewaterhouse Coopers. Deepak has advised a wide range of clients representing multiple industry segments like Oil & Gas, IT, Hospitality, Infrastructure Projects, Construction, Telecom, FMCG, key players in the manufacturing sector as well as the service sector, and specializes in international tax, transfer pricing, income-tax and indirect tax litigation.
