SSEK Law Firm, in collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower and the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia (AmCham Indonesia), recently held the forum “Strengthening Indonesia’s Workforce,” bringing together policymakers and industry stakeholders to discuss developments in Indonesia’s labor and employment landscape.
Indonesia Minister of Manpower Prof. Yassierli, Ph.D. delivered special remarks at the forum, outlining the government’s priorities in strengthening workforce readiness, expanding employment opportunities, and enhancing collaboration with the private sector.
SSEK managing partner Dewi Savitri Reni and AmCham Indonesia managing director Donna Priadi also delivered remarks, highlighting the importance of continued dialogue between government and the business community.
The forum featured three sessions led by senior officials from the Ministry of Manpower.
The first session, Indonesia’s National Workforce Placement Policy and Sustainable Workforce Development, featured Isnarti Hasan, Director of Domestic Workforce Placement Development, and Anggun Sintana, Director of Special Workforce Placement Development.
The discussion addressed the ministry’s policy priorities in aligning workforce capabilities with industry needs, addressing skills gaps in emerging sectors, and expanding employment opportunities through partnerships, including upskilling initiatives and workforce mobility programs.
The session was moderated by Ali Chaidar Z., Deputy Head of the Partnership Task Force at the Directorate of Domestic Manpower Placement.
The second session, Indonesia’s Foreign Worker Utilization Policy, was delivered by Rendra Setiawan, Director of Foreign Worker Utilization Control, and moderated by SSEK partner Stephen Igor Warokka.
The session provided updates on foreign worker (TKA) policy priorities, including improvements to RPTKA approval processes and compliance monitoring, as well as possible revisions to the manpower decree on list of positions open to foreign workers.
The third session, Industrial Relations Trends and Dispute Resolution, featured Imelda Savitri, Acting Director of Industrial Relations and Dispute Resolution, and was moderated by Aryoko Dwinanto, VP Human Resources at ExxonMobil Indonesia.
The discussion covered Indonesia’s industrial dispute resolution framework, recent trends in industrial relations, and the ministry’s efforts to promote fair, transparent, and constructive engagement between employers and employees.
The forum saw strong participation from the business community and was fully booked, reflecting the high level of interest in Indonesia’s evolving labor policies and regulatory developments.
