On 10 April 2020, during a special address, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that the government of Malaysia (“Government”) will be extending the nationwide Movement Control Order (“MCO Order”) pursuant to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Police Act 1987.
The extension will be effective from 15 April 2020 until 28 April 2020.
In light of the economic impact of COVID-19, the Government has introduced a few measures since 27 February 2020 with the aim of stabilising and reinvigorating economic growth.
