Effective 1 June 2026, SOCSO/PERKESO introduced the LINDUNG 24 Jam scheme (Skim Kemalangan Bukan Bencana Kerja, SKBBK) to provide 24-hour protection against non-work-related accidents.
Following a policy reversal in July 2026, participation is now voluntary for Malaysian employees but remains mandatory for foreign workers. Contributions are borne entirely by participating employees. Employers should deduct and remit contributions only in accordance with PERKESO’s latest instructions.
Employers should note that automatic mandatory deductions no longer apply to Malaysian employees. Payroll teams should review their existing arrangements, ensure that future processing follows PERKESO’s current requirements, and clearly communicate the revised position to affected employees.
