The Securities Commission Malaysia revised its licensing handbook on 12 October 2022. Amongst the changes are:
- amendment to facilitate changes in processes and automation of additional forms under the second phase of the Electronic Application System (“EASy”) for greater operational efficiency as well as to provide greater clarity and consistency in the requirements;
- updates to the Appendix 3 to the licensing handbook relating to EASy, which indicates the new form types that have been automated through EASy and the types of supporting documentation for various forms;
- housekeeping amendments throughout the licensing handbook which are either editorial or for consistency with the current law.
Securities Commission Malaysia inks Supervisory Cooperation MMoU
On 17 October 2022, the Securities Commission Malaysia executed a Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding for Supervisory Cooperation (“Supervisory MMoU”) at the International Organization of Securities Commissions (“IOSCO”) Annual Meetings 2022.
According to a statement issued by the Securities Commission Malaysia, the Supervisory MMoU:
- provides an cooperative arrangement on supervisory matters between the Securities Commission Malaysia and its regional regulatory counterparts including in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Thailand.
- establishes a formal framework for regional supervisory cooperation among capital market regulators.
