16 November 2021
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the annual Herbert Smith Freehills-SMU Asian Arbitration Lecture on Tuesday, 23 November 2021, 5.00pm (Singapore time).
The Herbert Smith Freehills-SMU Asian Arbitration Lecture Series was established in 2010 and made possible by a term fund contribution by Herbert Smith Freehills. The objective of the Lecture Series is to promote collaborative forms of dispute resolution and access to justice, and in so doing to promote Singapore as the centre for dispute resolution in Asia, particularly in arbitration and mediation.
This year’s Lecture will be delivered over Zoom by Dr Ula Cartwright-Finch (Managing Director, Cortex Capital). Dr Cartwright-Finch will speak on the topic of “Witnesses and Webcams: The Psychology of Witness Evidence in a Virtual World”. Discussing the handling of witness evidence in virtual hearings, she will look at the psychology behind critical issues in remote testimony, as well as the intelligent adjustments that science suggests to international arbitration practice and procedure.
The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Mr Alastair Henderson (Managing Partner, Southeast Asia, Herbert Smith Freehills) who will be joined by Dr Cartwright-Finch (Managing Director, Cortex Capital), Mr Cavinder Bull, SC (Vice-President, SIAC Court of Arbitration; CEO, Drew & Napier LLC) and Associate Dean Dorcas Quek Anderson (SMU Yong Pung How School of Law), to discuss the issues raised in the lecture and answer questions from the audience.
The Lecture commences at 5.00 pm (Singapore time) on Zoom. Further details of the Lecture including the Programme can be found here).
We would be honoured if you could join us for this online Lecture (RSVP here). Please do not hesitate to contact our Ms Susan Ng at susanng@smu.edu.sgif you have any queries.
