SSEK partner Stephen Igor Warokka and Greita Anggraeni, an associate at the firm, took part in the recent webinar Legal Survey on Distribution in Indonesia.
The webinar, which was geared toward Japanese companies, was hosted by the Indonesian Ministry of Investment/Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Also speaking at the event was a representative from the Japan-headquartered law firm Mori Hamada & Matsumoto.
About the webinar
Under Indonesia’s new Investment Priority List, distributor businesses that previously had a maximum foreign ownership of 67% can now in principle have 100% foreign capital. In addition to the issue of foreign ownership, there are multiple relevant regulations containing restrictions and requirements that investors must be aware of.
SSEK’s Stephen Igor Warokka and Greita Anggraeni discussed the foreign ownership cap and minimum investment value for foreign distributors, partnership requirements with micro, small and medium enterprises under the Investment Priority List, risk level and associated licensing requirements, and specific restrictions for foreign distributors in Indonesia.
