SyCipLaw Partner Jose Florante M. Pamfilo, along with Associates Angelique P. Leda, Janelle Margret H. Sentina, and Susanna Ruth A. Gruyal, contributed the Philippine chapter to the fourth edition of ESG in APAC, a publication by Slaughter and May in collaboration with leading law firms across the Asia Pacific region.
The 2026 edition examines developments shaping the ESG regulatory landscape across 16 jurisdictions, with a focus on ESG reporting, transition, and greenwashing.
The Philippine chapter discusses key regulatory developments from July 2025 to June 2026, including the adoption of mandatory sustainability reporting standards aligned with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) standards, developments in carbon markets and carbon trading, and legislative proposals relating to emissions trading and climate accountability.
The chapter also examines the Philippines’ new sustainability reporting regime under SEC Memorandum Circular No. 16, series of 2025, which introduces PFRS S1 and PFRS S2-based reporting requirements through a phased implementation beginning with certain listed companies for financial year 2026.
