On 7 April 2016, The Malaysian Lawyers, Marcus van Geyzel and Lee Shih, attended the Asian Legal Business Malaysia Law Awards 2017 held at Intercontinental Hotel. In its third year, these awards are the equivalent of the Oscars for the Malaysian legal sector, giving recognition to the work done by the lawyers from private practice and as in-house lawyers.

The diverse range of awards recognise the unique contribution by all of the stakeholders in the legal sectors. Hence, in addition to awards for practice areas and for specific deals, recognition was also given to categories such as Corporate Citizenship Law Firm of the Year, Boutique Law Firm of the Year (15 lawyers or less), and Malaysia In-House Team of the Year.
