Morrison & Foerster Partner and Global Chair of the Private Equity group, Marcia Ellis, is quoted in an article, “What could stop the hottest thing in IPOs from landing in Hong Kong,” published by DealStreetAsia on August 23, 2021.
The article provides an overview of SPAC and discusses the obstacles that might stand in the way of SPACs taking off in Hong Kong. Marcia believes that it will be difficult for Hong Kong to allow SPAC IPOs as the process of a SPAC acquiring a company is very similar to a company going public by a listed shell company, which has been combatted by the city’s regulators.
