Appleby’s Katherine Garrood and Alex Thornton de Mauroy were both winners at the 2023 Citywealth Future Leaders Awards which were announced during an awards ceremony at the Clermont Hotel in London.
- Alex received the Silver award in the category Lawyer of the Year International Finance Centre (IFC) – Senior Associate
- Katherine received the Bronze award in the category Lawyer of the Year IFC – Partner
Katherine is Counsel within the Corporate department in the Isle of Man, providing regulatory advice and acting on M&As and restructures. She is a member of Appleby’s global teams for Technology and Innovation and for Funds and Investment Services.
Alex is a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution team in Guernsey. Alex has a wide range of dispute resolution experience, dealing with commercial disputes, regulatory enforcement proceedings, contentious insolvency matters and trust-related disputes.
The awards, sponsored by Zedra, and now in their ninth year, are open to all wealth management professionals under the age of 40 both on and offshore. They recognise the excellence of young professionals in furthering their career through their ambition, leadership qualities and communication skills.
The ceremony was hosted by BBC sports commentator Annie Emmerson, who has lent her voice to the BBC’s coverage of two Olympic and three Commonwealth Games and is now one of the main reporters for Super League Triathlon.
Winners were decided by a mix of judges’ vote and an online public vote which took place during 2023.
