New Strategic Adviser brings three decades of financial services regulatory and technology knowledge to Konexo
Konexo, the consultancy developed by global law firm Eversheds Sutherland, has appointed former KPMG UK Executive Committee member Karen Briggs as a Strategic Adviser to support its financial services governance, risk and compliance offering.
Karen brings more than three decades of experience in financial services regulatory and technology in addition to leadership and business development knowledge. She will also bring experience of designing, implementing and overseeing large-scale remediation programmes across a variety of sectors covering risk, assurance, compliance, conduct, regulation, and data/technology.
Prior to joining Konexo, Karen served on the Executive Committee of KPMG UK. She was involved in major investigations and change programmes reporting into UK and overseas regulatory bodies including projects on regulatory compliance, large-scale remediation and risk management within the financial services sector.
In her career so far, Karen has also served as a senior banking regulator and spearheaded high-profile investigations into investment and retail/commercial banks, insurance groups, asset managers, and other regulated entities.
David Saunders, Partner and Head of Konexo, comments:
“We are very much looking forward to working with Karen. She has been a key player in advancing big data and technology initiatives in her previous roles, especially in relation to financial crime and miss-selling. Her ability to design and oversee large change and remediation programmes, supported by technology, makes her the right fit to help our clients with their governance, risk and compliance needs.”
In addition to her corporate contributions, Karen served as a Board member for K Capital, KPMG’s global technology investment fund, and Head of Technology Solutions, leading the development and management of AI, cyber, data, and other technology solutions. Her leadership extended to the Forensic & Litigation Consulting and Technology practices of FTI in EMEA.
Karen is also a non-executive director and trustee of the Invictus Games Foundation Board, an independent Council member of Imperial College London and an Advisory Council Member for Elevate City, a women’s leadership network.
