International commercial law firm Hill Dickinson has announced the hire of Sarah Emerson, joining the London office as a commercial disputes partner.
The latest lateral hire to the growing London office, Emerson’s appointment bolsters Hill Dickinson’s rapidly expanding national business services offering. She follows a slew of recent additions to the London team, including commercial litigation partner Amanda Burge, tax partner David Klass and debt capital market partner James Harmer, along with James Kaufmann, who has established the firm’s funds team.
Specialising in dispute resolution, Emerson’s previous work spans sectors including cyber, finance, manufacturing, the environment, construction, energy and infrastructure.
At Hill Dickinson, she will advise on international arbitration across all sectors and complex group litigation in securities, competition, financial product mis-selling (fraud and professional negligence). Emerson also provides cyber incident response advice and handles regulatory matters and investigations for organisations, often assisting in times of crisis. She is experienced in both UK and international disputes and investigations.
Emerson joins from Teacher Stern, where she co-headed the commercial disputes department. Prior to her time at the firm, she spent six years at US firm K&L Gates in London.
Craig Scott, head of business services and CEO-elect at Hill Dickinson, said: “Sarah is another brilliant addition to the team and indeed Hill Dickinson. Alongside Amanda Burge, James Harmer, David Klass and James Kaufmann, who have already made an incredible impact within our London office, Sarah’s specialist commercial disputes experience expands our business services offer even further and supports the firm’s wider growth strategy.”
Fiona Parry, head of commercial litigation at Hill Dickinson, commented: “As we close in on another strong year for the business services arm of the firm, our focus remains on expanding and deepening our commercial offering to clients. Attracting the industry’s best talent is key to this. Sarah is well known in the market for her exceptional skills in cross-jurisdictional litigation and arbitration matters, so we’re incredibly excited to welcome her to the team. Having worked on some major dispute resolution cases throughout her career, her skillset will be a significant asset to us and expands our commercial litigation offering in the City, particularly given the breadth of sector experience she brings.”
Sarah Emerson, partner at Hill Dickinson, added: “Having worked in the London legal market for the last 15 years, I have witnessed significant change in both litigation and arbitration, including the emergence of organisations’ changing needs in dispute resolution. And at a time of economic challenge for many businesses it continues to be important to take a pragmatic approach to dispute resolution. Hill Dickinson’s commercial litigation team already delivers market leading advisory work in the City and nationally, and I’m focused on achieving great outcomes for clients through the effective conduct of cases alongside the firm’s growing Commercial Litigation team.”
