Zul Rafique & Partners has welcomed Janice Wong as a Partner in its Employment & Industrial Relations Practice Group, further strengthening its position as one of Malaysia’s leading employment law practices.
Janice initially joined Zul Rafique & Partners, where she completed her pupillage in 2008 and was subsequently retained as a Legal Associate in the Employment & Industrial Relations Practice Group. During this formative period, she built a strong foundation advising employers on dismissal disputes, employment advisory, and industrial relations matters. She later broadened her experience in litigation and corporate restructuring before returning to Sabah, where she continued her employment and civil litigation practice and eventually co-founded her own firm in 2017. With over 17 years of experience, Janice has appeared as counsel and co-counsel at all levels of the Malaysian courts, from the Industrial Court to the Federal Court, and is admitted to practise in both Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah. Janice is currently empanelled as an Adjudicator with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) as well.
Janice’s return marks a significant homecoming to the firm where her career began and reinforces the depth of experience within the firm’s Employment & Industrial Relations Practice Group, which is consistently recognised as Tier 1 by The Legal 500 and Band 1 by Chambers and Partners. The practice is widely regarded for its strategic handling of complex employment disputes, large-scale workforce restructuring, and high-stakes industrial relations matters for leading Malaysian and multinational corporations.Commenting on the appointment, Managing Partner Datuk Lukman said:
“Janice’s return to the firm is especially meaningful to us. She is a product of our training and values, and over the years she has developed into a highly respected employment law practitioner. Her experience, particularly in complex industrial relations disputes and employer advisory work, will further strengthen our already top-tier practice. We are delighted to welcome her back.”
