With this appointment, the Firm’s Litigation Division now comprises 13 Partners, reflecting the continued growth of its dispute resolution and arbitration practice. The Firm’s partnership has grown to 30 Partners, supported by 114 lawyers and 19 trainee lawyers, further enhancing its ability to serve Malaysian and international clients.

Ridhwan is an accomplished litigation practitioner with more than a decade of experience in commercial litigation, Shariah litigation, shipping and maritime law, aviation, insolvency and restructuring, regulatory disputes, occupational safety matters, and quasi-criminal proceedings.
Ridhwan joins the Firm from one of Malaysia’s premier law firms, where he was a Partner in the Litigation Practice. Since his admission as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2015, he has established a strong reputation within the legal profession.
He has advised and represented multinational corporations, government-linked companies, statutory bodies, financial institutions, airlines and other corporate clients in numerous complex and high-profile disputes across a broad range of industries.
His professional standing has been recognised by leading international legal directories, including The Legal 500 Asia-Pacific, and through recognition at the Asian Legal Business Malaysia Law Awards. He is also an active contributor to the legal profession through speaking engagements, legal education, thought leadership, moot court judging and the mentoring of young lawyers.
Among his representative matters are:
- Successfully securing the discharge and acquittal of a national sewerage services company in proceedings under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.
- Successfully defending a national airline before the Court of Appeal in a complex tenancy dispute involving a four-tier tenancy structure and competing contractual obligations.
- Successfully resisting judicial review proceedings commenced against a statutory regulator concerning the implementation of the Water Services Industry (Water Reticulation and Plumbing) Rules 2014.
- Successfully obtaining leave before the Court of Appeal to adduce fresh evidence in a high-value corporate dispute involving multiple commercial agreements.
In addition, Ridhwan has advised and acted in matters involving:
- Ship arrests;
- Maritime collision claims;
- Shipbuilding disputes;
- Aviation regulatory matters;
- Corporate insolvency;
- Environmental compliance; and
- Occupational safety and health.
Ridhwan’s appointment marks an important strategic milestone for the Firm. Most significantly, it establishes a dedicated Shariah Litigation Practice, broadening the Firm’s service offerings and strengthening its ability to meet the growing demand for integrated civil and Shariah legal services.
