Leading international technology law practice Osborne Clarke is strengthening its technology, media and communications (TMC) sector specialist team in Hong Kong with the appointment of Albert Yuen who joined the firm on 1st August.
With more than 18 years' experience at top-tier law firms in Australia and the US, and from strategic secondments with key Asian businesses, Albert is a senior commercial transactions and advisory lawyer specialising in information technology, digital and telecommunications law, as well as commercial law. He advises clients on technology and digital contracting, licensing and outsourcings, IT transformations, systems implementations, telecoms, cloud services, privacy/data protection, big data, cyber-security and Internet of Things (IoT), related regulatory issues and other emerging technology transactions, and acts as a trusted advisor on strategic planning, risk and reputation management and stakeholder management.
Having led on many substantial global transactions, Albert brings experience working with multinationals in multiple jurisdictions, including Australia, South East Asia and North America. Albert has worked for clients such as Telstra, MetLife, Origin Energy, Virgin Australia Airlines, Ooredoo Myanmar, Axiata Group, XL Axiata, Maxis, Atos, Thai Life Insurance, Iluka and Beach Energy.
Albert has completed senior in-house legal secondments advising on TMC matters at Telstra and Ooredoo Myanmar.
Listed by Legal 500 as a ‘noteworthy contact,’ Albert is also recognised as a top ranked 'Next Generation Lawyer' in the IT and Telecoms category in Australia by Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2017 (one of only two in Australia) and 2018 (one of only three in Australia) and 2019 (one of only six in Australia).
