On 9 September 2020, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan announced that the government would pull an emergency brake on Jakarta and re-impose the large scale social restriction (Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar or PSBB) policy starting 14 September 2020.
Following from the announcement, the Governor issued two regulations to accommodate the re-imposing of the large scale social restriction practices, as follows:

Governor of the Special Capital District of Jakarta Regulation Number 88 of 2020 on the Amendment of Governor Regulation Number 33 of 2020 on the Implementation of the Large Scale Restrictions in Managing Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) within the Special Capital District of Jakarta Province stipulated and enacted on 11 September 2020 (Regulation 88). Regulation 88 allows the Government to impose stricter rules compared to the transitional phase, although these remain less strict than those imposed between April to June 2020; and

Governor of the Special Capital District of Jakarta Decree Number 959 of 2020 on the Enactment of the Implementation of the Large Scale Restrictions in Managing Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) within the Special Capital District of Jakarta Province, stipulated on 11 September 2020 and came into force on 14 September 2020 (Decree 959).In essence, Decree 959 provides that the Jakarta Government enforces the PSBB policy, starting from 14 September 2020 up to 27 September 2020. If cases continue to increase significantly, the city may consider to extend the PSBB to 11 October 2020.
The article will discuss the restrictions under Regulation 88 and Decree 959 and provide a comparison of the limitations during the transitional phase and the PSBB.
