Recently, the "Bengal Dhaka Airport Highway Concession Project", which was represented by JunHe, won The Asset magazine’s Transport Deal of the Year" award. The lead partners of the project were lawyers QIN, Yu (Bill) and CONG, Qing .
The Dhaka Airport Highway project is the first internationally invested highway PPP project to be implemented in Bangladesh. When completed, the project will reduce the travel time from the airport to the N1 road link in Chattogram from 2-3 hours to 20 minutes, which will significantly decrease travel time for residents and alleviate the extreme congestion in downtown Dhaka. The project will play an important role in the rapid economic development of Dhaka and provide an elevated expressway through the central axis of Dhaka city.
JunHe represented Shandong Foreign Economic and Technical Cooperation Group, a subsidiary of Shandong Expressway Group, and China Hydropower International Engineering Company Limited (Sinohydro International), a subsidiary of China Power Construction Group, to provide comprehensive legal services in connection with their investment, financing, contracting and operation in this project. The financing for the project was provided by a syndicate comprising of ICBC and the Export-Import Bank of China.
This project took over three years from the beginning of JunHe's service to the closing of the project financing, with a long work cycle and a large amount of documentation and negotiation work. On behalf of Shandong Expressway and Hydropower International, JunHe actively negotiated and communicated with local lawyers, partners, government agencies, syndicates and other parties in Bangladesh, and provided professional legal services to the client throughout the process, which was highly praised and recognized by the clients.
