Sai Krishna Bharathan is a senior partner at AZB & Partners and has been with the firm since 2004. Sai has over 22 years of experience and his practice areas include advising on foreign investment with particular focus on the real estate and allied sectors, formation of offshore and domestic funds, joint ventures, acquisitions and foreign investment in general. On the funds side, Sai regularly advises major offshore and domestic sponsors, fund managers and investors in relation to establishment of funds, managed accounts and the like. Sai offers particularly extensive experience of significant funds-related deals in the real estate and allied spaces.

 

Aside from funds, Sai regularly advises clients in relation to foreign investments into India in various sectors and in particular, the real estate and allied sectors. Sai has also advised on various infrastructure projects in India in the airport, power and road sectors and has been involved in the drafting and negotiation of project documents, both as the project counsel and lenders’ counsel.

 

Sai has been consistently rated as a leading lawyer for ‘Construction, Real Estate & Project Finance’ by Asialaw Leading Lawyers 2014 & 2015. Sai was recommended by International Who’s Who Legal for Private Funds in 2016.

 

Sai has also been ranked among the top lawyers in the real estate sector in India by Chambers Asia-Pacific.

 

Chambers & Partners, in their 2017 rankings for Asia Pacific, ranked Sai as a leading real estate lawyer and states that “Clients are "exceptionally pleased with him," and his "wide and deep knowledge of the law" and masterful negotiation style attract compliments.”

 

Sai is a graduate from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore in 1995.
