In the twilight of 2021 amid the easing pandemonium of COVID 19, the Malaysian Parliament passed a trio of intellectual property legislation, namely, the Patents (Amendment) Bill 2021, the Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2021 and the Geographical Indications Bill 2021.
These Bills are aimed at enhancing the landscape of IP protection in the country by strengthening their enforcement, and bringing the standards of protection and practice to be in line with the country’s obligations under various international treaties.
