International law firm Withers has added partner Natalie Sherborn to its White Collar Defence and Investigations team. Natalie joins the firm from Pinsent Masons, where she was the co-head of the London White Collar Crime, Compliance & Investigations team.
Natalie was called to the Bar in 2000 and spent 14 years in independent practice both prosecuting and defending in heavyweight crime cases. She moved into private practice to focus on international disputes and investigations.
Natalie brings extensive experience of advising both corporations and individuals facing scrutiny by regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies as prosecutors increasingly place corporates, business owners and executives in the cross hairs. She regularly leads on global corporate investigations and advises on reporting issues that arise for both listed and privately held companies. On the individual’s side, Natalie represents senior executives, directors, ultra-high-net-worth individuals and politicians. She has experience of working across a variety of industries, with a focus on energy, manufacturing, consumer goods and services, life sciences, sport and media.
Natalie will work with partner Carl Newman, who heads Withers’ white collar team, having joined the firm in January 2021. She will also collaborate closely with the Media & Reputation team, headed in the UK by partner Jo Sanders and Withers’ Civil Fraud team.
Peter Wood, CEO of Withers’ Dispute Resolution division, comments: “Strength in civil and criminal defence work is critically important to us and has never been more essential for many of our clients who find themselves having to fight to defend their reputations. Natalie is an excellent addition to our fast-growing team in London and brings a huge amount of experience and gravitas from the many cases she has conducted, both at the Bar and in private practice.”
Natalie adds: “I’m thrilled to be joining Withers and to work with Carl again, having collaborated together regularly when I was in practice at the Bar and over many years since. I look forward to working together to continue the development of the practice. We offer comprehensive advice and guidance on strategies to minimise criminal exposure and potential risks, both pre-emptively and responsively. This enables us to counsel clients in respect of the most substantive and complex issues, whilst seeking to mitigate reputation threats.”
