HKIAC is pleased to announce the release of the second edition of the HKIAC Guide to Domain Name Dispute Resolution (Guide).
The first edition was published in 2017. The Guide is a useful reference tool for users, both complainants and respondents, and for panelists appointed by HKIAC. The updated Guide outlines the domain name dispute resolution services offered by HKIAC. It provides a detailed overview of the proceedings most commonly submitted to HKIAC under (i) the Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP); (ii) CNNIC ccTLD Dispute Resolution Policy (CNDRP); and (iii) Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy for .hk and .香港 domain names (HKDRP). The Guide also addresses the most common procedural and legal issues in its cases with references to HKIAC jurisprudence and case management practice points.
HKIAC provides comprehensive online dispute resolution services for resolving domain name disputes arising out of gTLDs (generic top-level domains), new gTLDs and ccTLDs (country code top-level domains). HKIAC has one of the largest domain name caseloads in Asia. Since 2001, HKIAC has handled more than 2,500 domain name cases under six different policies. In 2021, HKIAC handled 225 domain name disputes, a 51% increase on 2020 and the highest number of domain name cases submitted to HKIAC in over 5 years.
HKIAC is a founding member of the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre (ADNDRC) which was established in Hong Kong in 2001. The ADNDRC is a UDRP service provider accredited by ICANN. HKIAC operates the Hong Kong office of the ADNDRC and is the Secretariat of the ADNDRC.
