Kids in Need of Defense recognized Crowell & Moring lawyers Molly Jones and Suzanne Rode for their work supporting pro bono matters for the organization. Jones was named the Pro Bono Advocate of the Year by KIND’s San Francisco office and Rode received a KINDness Matters Award. KIND was founded by the Microsoft Corporation and UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie, and “is the leading national organization that works to ensure that no refugee or immigrant child faces immigration court alone.”
Crowell works with KIND regional offices in Washington, D.C., New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles representing immigrant children, often referred to as “unaccompanied minors” or UACs who face the possibility of deportation in attempting to obtain legal immigration status.
Jones is an Intellectual Property and Litigation counsel in the firm’s San Francisco office. Her practice focuses on patent, trademark, technology licensing, and other commercial disputes in a range of industries including software, biotechnology, commercial real estate, education, health care, and food and beverage. In addition to representing individual clients in their immigration matters, her pro bono practice also includes impact litigation.
Rode is a counsel in the firm’s Litigation and Labor & Employment groups. She litigates and counsels on a variety of complex matters, with a focus on employment disputes and representing higher education institutions. Rode has a pro bono practice focused on immigration, and has represented individuals in applications for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, T visa based on status as a victim of human trafficking, and asylum.
