Following confirmation that the Procurement Bill is to start the final stages of its Parliamentary progress on 13 June 2023, Cabinet Office has now announced that they are able to update on the projected timeline for implementation of the new Procurement Act (as the Bill will become on receipt of Royal Assent).
According to the latest Transforming Public Procurement update, Cabinet Office are now planning for an October 2024 commencement date.
Work will no doubt begin in earnest on the secondary legislation needed to support the Procurement Act and the Cabinet Office confirms that a further public consultation will commence shortly on the details of these regulations.
Contracting authorities and bidders will need to keep a close eye on developments and plan their strategies early for implementing these long awaited changes.
