Bird & Bird has advised Australian Food & Agriculture Company (AFA) on the successful sale of a significant portfolio of premium farming properties to Cleveland Agriculture for around
$200 million.
Led by the Bell family and co-investor Ray Dalio, the transaction marks a major milestone in AFA’s strategic sell-down of agricultural holdings. The sale includes some of Australia’s most productive farmland, underpinning AFA’s reputation as a leader in the agricultural sector and establishing it as one of Australia’s largest privately held portfolios.
The Bird & Bird team consisted of Chris Clarke, Corporate Partner and Co-Managing Partner, Australia, Aaron Chan, Special Counsel, Carl Ritchie, Associate, Vince Baudille, Real Estate Partner, Conor Matthews, Senior Associate, and Kennedy Taylor-Louisson, Associate.
Commenting on the transaction, Chris Clarke notes that “we are proud to have supported AFA on this landmark transaction, which highlights the continued global interest in Australian agriculture and underscores Bird & Bird’s ability to deliver exceptional outcomes in complex, high-value deals”.
