Appleby is proud to announce that John McCarroll SC will be joining its Hong Kong Dispute Resolution practice. John will relocate from the British Virgin Island (BVI) to join the Hong Kong team effective mid-April 2024.
John has had a distinguished career spanning over 30 years, including appearances in the superior courts, and took silk in Ireland in 2013. He is renowned for his expertise in handling complex commercial disputes, focusing on company law, trusts, regulatory, insolvency, receivership, and financial services.
Prior to joining Appleby, John practised at another offshore law firm in BVI and prior to that at the Chancery Bar in England and Wales, as well as the Bar of Ireland. John is not only a member of the BVI Arbitration Group and the Commercial Litigation Association of Ireland but also an honorary overseas member of COMBAR.
John stands out as one of the few Asia-based offshore lawyers, specialising in litigation and insolvency with a deep-rooted background in BVI. His appointment marks a strategic move for Appleby, further strengthening its Dispute Resolution practice in Asia.
