JunHe sincerely welcomes new partner Mr. Zhao Zhen to our Beijing office. Mr. Zhao has extensive experience in litigation and arbitration, cross-border dispute resolution, compliance and government regulation. He is currently undergoing transfer procedures.
Before joining JunHe, Mr. Zhao worked as a judge and gained deep insight into adjudication rules. As a lawyer, he has represented domestic and international clients in many high-profile onshore and offshore litigation and commercial arbitration proceedings, such as ATA Creativity Global’s case regarding damage to shareholder’s interests. This case was heard in the Second International Commercial Court of the Supreme People’s Court and its first-instance judgment was final. Mr. Zhao also represented Chubb in a dispute over the RMB 10.5 billion acquisition of Huatai Insurance. He worked on a dispute between Foresea Life Insurance and Vanke, a dispute over the misappropriation of RMB 12.2 billion of KDX’s funds, and China’s first ever consumer public interest litigation initiated by the China Consumers Association. Mr. Zhao specializes in difficult and complex commercial and cross-border disputes, and has handled cases recognized as Deals of the Year 2021 by China Business Law Journal. He has provided legal training for China Petrochemical Corporation, CASIC Group, China Mobile, Hitachi Construction Machinery (China), Peking University and other leading companies, colleges and universities.
Mr. Zhao has been recognized as a Leading Individual in Dispute Resolution (Litigation) for six consecutive years in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific rankings and a Highly Recommended lawyer in Dispute Resolution (Arbitration). In 2023, he was recognized in The Legal 500’s inaugural Arbitration Powerlist China 2023 and has been named a Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation China for three consecutive years. In 2023, he was nominated as a Litigation Lawyer of the Year at The Legal 500’s China Awards and in 2024 was recognized by Legal Vision as a “Highly Competent Lawyer” in the dispute resolution area.
Mr. Zhao is a member of the Council of the Beijing Chaoyang District Lawyers Association, and the deputy director of its Committee for International Exchanges and Cooperation. He often participates in influential dispute resolution summits and rule of law forums and is often called upon as a keynote speaker.
