Arthur Dong
Dr. Dong received his Bachelor of Laws and Ph. D from China University of Political Science and Law, and his Master of Laws from Temple University. He has worked as a PRC lawyer for over 25 years and was a partner at a leading Chinese law firm. Currently, he is going through relevant formalities before joining JunHe.
Dr. Dong focuses on complex matters of litigation and arbitration in relation to cross-border transactions and international commercial arbitration. His expertise covers a wide spectrum, including international trade, technology transfers and intellectual property protection, cross-border investments, antitrust private litigation and M&A, as well as distribution and franchise disputes. Dr. Dong is on the Arbitrator/Mediator panels of several well-established arbitration institutions and is a sought-after arbitrator among leading Asia-Pacific arbitration institutions.
Dr. Dong has acted as legal counsel or arbitrator under HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, SCC, JAMS, CIETAC, BAC, SHIAC, SCIA and UNCITRAL rules and has represented clients in commercial litigation cases involving different levels of Chinese courts. He has also been invited to act as an expert witness on Chinese law in several arbitration and litigation cases outside of China.
Dr. Dong has been ranked in both Chambers Asia-Pacific and Chambers Global in the field of arbitration for many years and has been recognized as a Legal 500 Leading Individual in Dispute Resolution. He has been recognized as a Who’s Who Leading Practitioner in the field of Arbitration, an Asialaw Distinguished Practitioner in Dispute Resolution and IP, and a Benchmark Litigation Dispute Resolution Star in Commercial and Transactions and International Arbitration for many years. Dr. Dong has also been named a 2021 Thought Leader in Who’s Who Legal, Mainland China & Hong Kong SAR Arbitration. The world’s leading legal media journal, Who’s Who Legal, says, “Arthur (Xiao) Dong is ‘a highly dependable and reliable lawyer’ who ‘really knows his stuff and can explain the details of proceedings to clients extremely well, and then provide the best practical solutions’”. Dr. Dong is a member of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) Council and is recognized as a leading PRC lawyer and arbitrator who enjoys significant influence in the field of international arbitration both at home and abroad.
Ms. Zhao received a Bachelor of Laws from China University of Political Science and Law, a Master of Laws from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Georgetown University and an FMBA jointly organized by Tsinghua University and Chinese University of Hong Kong. Before joining JunHe, Ms. Zhao worked for more than ten years in other renowned Chinese law firms, a top-tier international law firm and an international arbitration institution. She was a Counsel and Senior Manager (China) at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) where she administered more than 100 international commercial arbitrations.
Ms. Zhao specializes in handling international arbitrations under various arbitration rules, such as SIAC, ICC, HKIAC, CIETAC, and BAC Arbitration Rules. She also represents clients in litigation and arbitration-related court proceedings before different levels of the Chinese courts. Her practice mainly focuses on corporate and commercial dispute matters such as private equity investment, M&A, corporate governance, joint venture, shareholder dispute, D&O liabilities, finance and securities.
Ms. Zhao was recognized as a Next Generation Partner in The Legal 500 2020-2021 for Dispute Resolution and as a Future Star in Benchmark Litigation China, 2021 for International Arbitration.
