Janet Hui, senior partner in JunHe LLP’s Antitrust, Corporate and M&A Practice, the ex-co-chair of the competition committee of IPBA, has been appointed as Co-Chair of the International Bar Association’s Antitrust Section. Effective Jan 1, she will work in the role alongside Samantha Mobley, senior partner in Baker McKenzie’s Competition, Trade & Foreign Investment Practice in London.
The IBA is one of the most prominent organizations in the world for legal practitioners. With over 80,000 members, it seeks to promote the goals of global stability and peace through the administration of justice.
The IBA’s Antitrust Section provides an international forum for thought leadership with respect to antitrust law developments and the profession through submissions to competition agencies, training programs/missions, developing the law through its conferences, publications, and interaction with antitrust enforcement authorities and the profession.
In addition, it has a strong commitment in bringing together international practitioners to facilitate closer working relationships. The Section is relied upon by government officials and members of the private sector for its expertise and practical input into antitrust developments.
Janet has more than 30 years’ experience in providing legal services to clients in different industries and substantial experience in handling various competition and antitrust work, including merger control filing, antitrust investigation and antitrust compliance. Janet enjoys an outstanding reputation both nationally and internationally. She has been recognized as Band One leading lawyer by Chambers and Partner, Leading Lawyer by The Legal 500, Thought Leader- Global Elite by Who’s Who Legal in antitrust matters and Outstanding Competition Lawyer of the Year by China Law & Practice. Janet is appointed as an antitrust expert by Beijing Administration and Market Regulation and is the only female representative selected from China’s legal industry receiving the recognition as LinkedIn’s 2021 China Elite Working Female Figure.

Samantha has extensive expertise in all areas of competition law and is an eminent name in the cartel field and an experienced merger control specialist. She regularly advises the boards of UK plc’s in numerous industry sectors on antitrust compliance matters and is a Non-Governmental Adviser to the UK Competition and Markets Authority at the International Competition Network.
