Linklaters has advised the lead manager on the HK$5.5bn convertible bond issuance by Wanguo Gold Group Limited (Wanguo Gold). The company intends to use the estimated net proceeds to fund strategic acquisitions of overseas gold mining assets.
Asia-Pacific convertible bond activity has continued its strong momentum in 2026, with regional issuers raising a record amount in Q2 2026. Driven by higher borrowing costs and funding needs, companies across the region have increasingly turned to hybrid debt-equity instruments to balance lower funding costs with equity upside.
Linklaters has advised on more than US$19.4bn of equity-linked issuances in 2026 alone. The commodities sector has been particularly active, with the firm advising on major transactions by MMG, Zijin Mining, CMOC and China Hongqiao during the year.
The Linklaters team was led by capital markets partner Taiki Ki, with support from Jun Tang, Shuhan He and Jasmine Mok. A separate Linklaters team led by counsel Beibei Ding acted as the trustee counsel, with support from Arnold Tang.
With over 50 years’ on-the-ground presence in Hong Kong SAR and the wider Asia region, Linklaters provides clients with high-quality, comprehensive legal support across international capital markets transactions.
