As intellectual property law increasingly converges with emerging fields like AI, blockchain, AR/VR, and data protection, the need for a robust and adaptive legal framework has reached a critical juncture. The 𝟭𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗣 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, themed “𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄: 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗣,” was held on January 11-12, 2025 in Mumbai. The event featured enlightening sessions on pivotal topics including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and copyright, trademarks and design law, patent strategies, and IP in emerging markets. Additionally, discussions tackled contemporary issues such as data protection and privacy, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within IP. The convention also highlighted the challenges and opportunities posed by advancing technologies.
𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗵𝘁𝗮 from LexOrbis, 𝗠𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗶 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲, took part in the panel session-“𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀” covering the role of non-traditional marks—including sound, color, shape, and motion—in light of innovations in AI, AR/VR, and blockchain. 𝗦𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗷𝗲𝗲 from LexOrbis 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗿𝘂 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲, led a session titled “𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗗𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿?” where he examined the adequacy of current laws and proposed regulations in protecting our digital footprint. 𝗔𝘃𝗶 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗴 from LexOrbis, 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗵𝗶 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 addressed the session on “𝗜𝗣 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 & 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆,” focusing on the intricate relationship between innovation, patent expirations, and global regulatory frameworks.
