“For many years, the primary method for resolving construction disputes was litigation in court. The “I’ll see you in court” approach is no longer favored as a method to resolve disputes as it once was,” said DivinaLaw Senior Partner Atty. Enrique V. Dela Cruz Jr. who discussed alternative dispute resolution mechanisms during the recent Philippine Construction Arbitration Conference organized by the Philippine Institute of Construction Arbitrators and Mediators (PICAM).
Themed “Earth, Wind and Fire: Deconstructing Construction Through The Elements Of Climate, Law, Technology and Finance,” the event drew more than 130 delegates including construction arbitrators, legal practitioners, contractors, and other industry stakeholders.
Aside from Atty. Dela Cruz, 10 other lawyers of DivinaLaw also attended the conference.
Atty. Dela Cruz’s presentation was part of a distinguished panel which discussed dispute resolution trends, challenges, and developments in the construction industry. He was joined on the panel by Engr. Salvador Castro Jr., Atty. Fidel Valeros, and Atty. Salvador Panga Jr. who was the moderator.
Atty. Dela Cruz is the head of DivinaLaw’s arbitration practice group. DivinaLaw is an accredited provider of Alternative Dispute Resolution services by the Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution, an attached agency of the Department of Justice in the Philippines.
