Simmons Boosts Asia Presence With Key Regulatory Hire
International law firm Simmons & Simmons has appointed Kenneth Hui as Head of Hong Kong Regulatory, Greater China, effective from 2nd July.
With 14 years in financial services, Kenneth’s appointment strengthens Simmons’ regulatory advisory services in Asia Pacific and Greater China.
Kenneth boasts a broad expertise in various financial services regulatory matters, including fintech, digital assets, and transaction structuring. His broad experience involves advising international and regional banks, broker dealers, non-bank lenders, payment companies, financial sponsors, asset managers, and fintech firms.
Kenneth, based in the firm’s Hong Kong office, will contribute to the firm’s expanding Asia financial markets practice. Coming from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he was a counsel in the financial services regulatory team, he brings valuable connections to industry bodies like the Asia Securities & Industry Financial Markets Association.

Digital assets are gaining traction in Hong Kong, with a fresh regulatory setup for exchanges, establishing the city as a virtual asset hub. Catering to this market, which encompasses the growth of Simmons’ APAC fintech division, will be a central priority for Kenneth.

This appointment follows Simmons’ recent expansion of its dispute resolution (DR) team in Singapore, doubling its size in the last six months. The team has expanded with the arrival of partner Lijun Chui, who specialises in international commercial dispute resolution and investigations in the TMT and financial sectors across Asia Pacific.
