SSEK Law Firm founding partner Ira A. Eddymurthy and partner Stephen Igor Warokka attended and participated as panel speakers at the 2026 Annual Conference of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) in New Delhi, India.
On Day 2 of the conference, Ira contributed an Indonesian perspective to the panel titled “Evolvement of FDI National Security Review Regimes in a Segmented World.” The session explored the global expansion of foreign direct investment (FDI) national security review frameworks and the increasingly sophisticated cross-border strategies for early risk assessment and effective legal guidance.
During the panel, Ira said Indonesia’s largest investor was Singapore, but most jurisdictions were routing their investments through the city-state, citing the example of TikTok entering Indonesia through its Singapore company rather than its China or US entities.
On Day 3, Stephen joined the panel “Cross-Border Employment Investigations – Data Protection and Other Legal and Regulatory Pitfalls.” The discussion covered recent developments in employment-related data transfers, key legal considerations during and after internal investigations, and evolving whistleblower and anti-retaliation protections.
The theme of the 2026 IPBA conference was “The Future of Law: Agility, Creativity & Change.” It highlighted the transformation of the legal profession, particularly in response to technological advancements, including artificial intelligence,, evolving regulatory landscapes, shifting client expectations, and broader industry disruption.
The Inter-Pacific Bar Association is an international association of business and commercial lawyers with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region. It was established in April 1991.
