SyCipLaw Partner Authors Philippine Chapter in “ESG in APAC”
SyCipLaw Partner Jose Florante M. Pamfilo has contributed the Philippine chapter to the latest edition of “ESG in APAC.” This publication, a collaboration by Slaughter and May and top law firms in the Asia Pacific, guides businesses through the current ESG regulatory landscape across 16 APAC jurisdictions. It discusses commonalities and future directions on three key themes: ESG reporting, transition planning, and the risks of greenwashing.
The Philippine chapter provides an overview of major themes in the Philippine context, highlighting updates as of June 2024, especially in ESG reporting. Key advancements include the Philippine Sustainable Finance Taxonomy Guidelines, proposed implementation of the International Financial Reporting Standards for sustainability and climate-related disclosures, and plans to revise sustainability reporting guidelines for publicly listed companies.
