One of ABNR’s Partners, Freddy Karyadi, was appointed as a member of the Board of Ethics at Asosiasi Fintech Indonesia (AFTECH) in AFTECH’s second General Meeting of Members which was held on 2 June 2021.
AFTECH is an official fintech association that was appointed by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), as regulated under OJK Regulation Number 13/POJK.02/2018 on Digital Financial Innovation in the Financial Sector and OJK’s Circular Letter Number 22/SEOJK.02/2019 on the Appointment of the Association for Operator of the Digital Financial Innovation. Currently, AFTECH has more than 350 members, consisting of 359 fintech companies, 24 financial institutions, 13 research partners and six technology partners. AFTECH vision is to encourage financial inclusion through digital financial services. In accomplishing this vision, AFTECH has been actively supporting the government’s financial inclusion targets.
Freddy was one of the pioneers who focused on the digital industry and has handled many transactions involving technology and fin-tech/health-tech/edu-tech/TMT companies, from early-stage fundraising, integration, exit, public offering preparation to regulatory compliance. He has over two decades of practising law in Indonesia and has been heavily involved in numerous complex cross border deals including project financing, capital market (including offshore and local offerings, asset-backed securities, corporate actions involving public companies), M&A, investment, employment and dispute settlement/bankruptcy. As a law and economics graduate, Freddy has a strong knowledge of legal, commercial, TAX and accounting issues that these industries encounter. He can quickly identify the key issues and offer practical business-oriented legal solutions. Freddy obtained a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Indonesia and an LLM degree in international taxation from the Universiteit Leiden, the Netherlands. He also obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Trisakti University and MBA degree from the Peking University.
