BRG today announces the appointment of experts Jas Cheema, Chris Rudland and Tim Mitchell to its Global Construction practice. Cheema, a managing director, and Mitchell, an associate director, will be based in London. Rudland, a director, will be based in Singapore.
Cheema, a quantum expert, will provide litigation and arbitration support services relating to the calculation of and approach to damages and valuation of construction works across Europe, the Middle East and further afield. He has over 20 years of industry experience, including 5 based in the Middle East, and has provided expert witness testimony on construction-related quantum topics for government agencies, consulting organisations, developers, contractors and subcontractors. Who’s Who Legal Construction ranks him as a thought leader in the field, describing him as a “very good presenter” in contentious proceedings, known for his “practical” approach to quantum analysis.
Rudland, a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS), will work on international and domestic disputes. His experience comprises provision of quantum expert services, commercial and claims advisory services, commercial management, contractual advisory, project management, construction claims, quantifying damages, measurement and project controls; alongside core quantity surveying services such as cost planning, tendering, procurement, measurement, change control, valuation and negotiating final accounts. With 10 years of experience, he has worked on projects and disputes valued in the billions of dollars and is active across the UK and Asia-Pacific markets. He recently testified in an arbitration in Singapore and sits on the Scheme Arbitration committee for the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb) and the Publications sub-committee for the Society of Construction Law (SCL).
Mitchell brings over 20 years of international commercial and quantity surveying experience and has worked on projects valued up to 20 billion pounds. Skilled in database design and manipulation, his particular expertise is in presenting large amounts of data in a logical manner and drafting clear and concise reports. He is Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) and holds an MSc in construction law and arbitration.
Cheema, Rudland and Mitchell’s combined sector experience spans oil, gas processing facilities, pipelines, power, tunnels, highways, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, logistics, government defence, sports stadia, hospitals, airports, mixed-use (commercial and residential), hospitality (hotels) and residential projects.
Commenting on the appointments, Rick Fultineer, a managing director and head of BRG’s Global Construction practice, said, “With a strong pipeline of construction disputes forecast across EMEA and APAC in 2021 and beyond, Jas, Chris and Tim’s experience and expertise will be great assets to both their regional teams and our expanding global practice”.
