China’s long-awaited first law on electronic commerce will come into effect on 1 January 2019. The Electronic Commerce Law 2018 (‘the Law’) significantly increases the responsibilities and accountability of platform operators and provides a range of measures to protect consumers and intellectual property rights.
We expect the new Law to play a crucial part in shaping the e-commerce industry in China and ensuring its healthy development in the future.
