Christoph Kurth joins Baker McKenzie’s Compliance and Investigation Practice in Zurich from UBS (Singapore) where he was the General Counsel Wealth Management for APAC and before as Head of Litigation & Investigations APAC.
Christoph Kurth brings new and established Compliance & Investigations expertise to Baker McKenzie and will be the partner responsible for this practice area. Christoph Kurth worked for leading law firms in Switzerland and in the USA as a litigator before he took over various management positions at a major global Swiss bank, most recently as General Counsel Asia Pacific in wealth management and as the head of the litigation & investigation team in that region, after managing the global litigation & investigation team for asset management in Switzerland. In these functions, he was responsible for complex regulatory and criminal investigations as well as civil law proceedings in Switzerland, the USA and Asia.
“Christoph Kurth will substantially strengthen our compliance & investigations practice. Earlier, during the global financial crisis, we were able to prove our expertise in this area. The Zurich office advised more than 40 banks in the tax dispute with the USA, making it the most sought-after law firm in Switzerland,” explains Marnin Michaels, a member of the management committee of Baker McKenzie Zurich. “Through access to Christoph Kurth, one of the most distinguished experts in his field, we want to continue extending our expertise and diversifying in compliance & investigations. We are convinced that this will enable us to meet the needs of our clients.”
Baker McKenzie is also investing globally in expanding the compliance & investigations practice. This week, all branches were equipped with an industry-unique, artificial intelligence-enabled eDiscovery software to provide even more efficient advice to our clients.
