Shaneen Parikh is a Partner at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas’, Mumbai office and joined the Firm in 1995.
Shaneen’s focus is on dispute resolution, including arbitration (domestic and international), and corporate and commercial litigation. She has appeared in arbitrations and various regulatory forums and courts (including High Courts, and the Supreme Court), across the country.
Her practice covers a wide range of issues, including disputes relating to commercial contracts, joint venture, technical collaboration and shareholder agreements, writ jurisdiction, intellectual property, infrastructure, power and construction projects, commercial financing transactions and documents, torts, labour, etc. Shaneen advises clients both Indian and multi-national in domestic and cross-border disputes, in relation to court litigation as well as arbitration (both domestic and foreign).
Shaneen handled the precedent setting litigations that arose in relation to derivative transactions, acting for various Indian and foreign banks in relation to foreign exchange derivatives in arbitrations and litigations, both domestic, in courts across the country and foreign. She also acted for a multi-national bank in relation to transactions under the Special Court (Trial of Offences Relating to Transactions in Securities), Act, 1992, and other disputes relating to securities / commodities transactions which were among the first of their kind.
Shaneen is actively involved in dispute resolution-related initiatives in, and has spoken at various conferences and seminars pertaining to dispute resolution. She has also co-authored several articles, on arbitration and litigation including most recently, the 4th edition of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Handbook (India Chapter) published by Global Legal Insights, and has assisted a leading chamber of commerce in drafting its rules of arbitration, conciliation and mediation.
