Global law firm Clyde & Co have announced that Charles Baillehache has joined the firm's office in Singapore as Senior Consultant, Hospitality & Leisure.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Charles was based in Singapore as Vice-President Legal AMEA for InterContinential Hotels Group (IHG) where he led the Business Reputation and Responsibility function comprising Legal, Risk Management, Internal Audit and Corporate Social Responsibility. He contributed, as a business partner, to the development and execution of IHG’s regional strategies and worked with other business executives to identify opportunities to maximize returns, and increase distributions and market share. In addition to IHG, Charles has also worked for Accor in the Middle East, UK and France.
Charles extensive hospitality experience will further strengthen Clyde & Co's well-renowned regional hospitality and leisure practice by building Clyde & Co's engagement with multinational hospitality corporations and leading local and national hospitality companies in the Asia Pacific region; the firm recently recruited leading hospitality Partner Benjamin Hirasawa and Senior Associate Jonathan Lynch to spearhead the firm's practice in Australasia. Clyde & Co has also recently announced that Sapna Jhangiani, who is also based in Singapore, will be promoted to Partner on 1 May. Sapna's dispute resolution practice includes representation of numerous hospitality clients in connection with contentious matters in both Asia and the Middle East.
Charles will be advising on a broad range of commercial matters, including advising on all aspects of multi-jurisdictional development projects, private equity financings, joint ventures, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and the acquisition, development, operation, management and disposition of hotels, and mixed-use, condominium, fractional, and branded residence projects.
Charles' extensive international experience enables him to relate to a variety of business cultures and successfully work with people from an array of backgrounds, whether in frontier or mature markets, a multi-national corporate environment, or with high-net-worth individuals.
Charles also brings with him extensive practical experience in both common and civil law jurisdictions.
